LOCKDOWN has been a seriously strange time.

After three months, as the rules finally start to ease and pubs and restaurants prepare to reopen, many people have meanwhile got used to the new “normal” —  from home working to buying everything online.

Here are savvy ways to shop those lockdown trends.

BAKE OFF: Social media has been awash with people showing off their new baking talents, with sales of ingredients rising sharply as a result.

To keep your new skills hot after lockdown, check out the John Lewis clearance sale. I love the House by John Lewis Cast Aluminium cookware — many items in the range are now 50 per cent off in-store and they look similar to far more expensive products to boot.

WFH, ANYONE?: Plenty of us found ourselves working from home, and many still are. Poundland reports massively increased sales of stationery and desk accessories. Pep up your at-home office with the store’s essentials including packs of pens and highlighters, all at £1 — far cheaper than similar sets sold at Paperchase for around £5.

SAVING: £4

FITNESS IN FRONT ROOM: The closure of gyms in March left fitness items such as resistance bands, yoga mats and dumb bells quickly selling out, with prices inflated on sites such as eBay.

Now there is far more kit available, with  plenty of bargains to be had at the moment. I’m loving the Reebok sale, with up to 65 per cent off training gear right now. Nike also has a 50 per cent sale on, so you’re sure to save pounds.

SELF-CARE SAVINGS: Many of us have now nailed our at-home beauty regimes. While I’ve been yearning for a professional pedicure, I’ve been  impressed with how good my DIY beauty has become over recent weeks (and doing it myself certainly saves extra dosh). I plan to continue to cut back on professional treatments, so I’ve invested in the Boots Pedi & Soften Bundle, £24.99 — worth £42.97 when bought separately. It really does the job.
