Festivals have been cancelled this year due to Covid-19 so here’s our top tips for your own mini-Glastonbury at home

ARMIES of would-be revellers have suffered from this year’s festival season being binned because of lockdown.

Glastonbury, the biggest of them all with more than 135,000 tickets sold, was due to kick off in Somerset.

So why not host your own mini-festival at home? You can take pleasure in the fact you haven’t spent loads on a ticket and overpriced drinks.

Here are my top tips . . .

The tent: Pitch your tent in the back garden. If you don’t already have one, you can buy the Eurohike Toco 2 dome tent from blacks.co.uk for £16, down from £30. If you don’t have an outdoor space, make a den indoors with your duvet and blankets like you did as a kid. You can also get two camping chairs for £12 at B&M.

SAVE: £14 on a tent

The music: Tune in to BBC Two on Friday, Saturday and Sunday as there will be a 90-minute show each night celebrating Glastonbury’s biggest performances since the Nineties.

You can also listen to BBC Radio 2 all this week for Jo Whiley’s memories of the Worthy Farm festival. Turn it up louder with the Intempo Geode LED speaker from B&M, now £10, was £15.

The drinks: Cocktail cans are tasty, cheap and save you the hassle of buying several ingredients.

You can get three Shake Baby Shake cocktail cans for £5 at Morrisons, including a watermelon daiquiri. You can also get 12 bottles of Heineken for £7, down from £11 at . If you forget ice for the bucket, fill sandwich bags with water and freeze, then pop in a cool box with some water.

SAVE: £4 on beer

The snacks: Grab three lots of selected multipack crisps from Asda for £3.50, plus get Pringles for £1.25, down from £2.50. That should see you through the day until you hit the barbecue. Stock up on meat at Iceland where this week you can find three packs of four quarter-pounders for £8, usually £3 a pack.

SAVE: £1 on burgers
