McDonald’s names 11 service station restaurants reopening for takeaway from today

MCDONALD'S has revealed the locations of 11 service stations that have reopened for takeaway and click and collect orders today.

The update from the fast food chain means Maccies fans will be able to step inside restaurants for the first time since the coronavirus lockdown began.

Until now, McDonald's customers have only been able to order food for home delivery or through drive-thru lanes.

The fast food chain has around 1,000 restaurants offering these services.

But today's announcement means takeaway and click and collect is back on the menu in 11 restaurants - you can find a full list of branches below.

At these sites, customers will be able to use till points and self-service touch screens to order food, although a fewer number will be in operation.

These screens will be cleaned by staff every 30 minutes.

Alternatively, McDonald's customers can also order food for click and collect via the My McDonald's app.

The restaurant chain has previously said this will help speed up orders after being swamped with demand.

Crucially, you still won't be able to sit inside and eat, as dining areas will remain closed.

Toilets are also out of bounds for customer use.

Restaurants offering takeaway will allow limited numbers of customers inside at one time - this means you may have to queue to get your fast food fix.

The amount of people allowed inside at one time will vary depending on the size of the restaurant.

There will also be new one-way floor markers and hand sanitiser stations dotted around sites, plus perspex screens at tills to keep staff safe.

In addition, McDonald's is asking customers to visit branches alone if possible.

Children are still allowed to visit restaurants, although its complimentary colouring books won't be given out, and play areas will remain closed.

McDonald's has been reopening restaurants in phases after closing all 1,350 sites on March 23 due to the coronavirus crisis.

In all reopened sites, Maccies will continue to operate under reduced hours of 11am to 10pm.

There is also still a slimmed down menu in place, and customers are being encouraged to spend no more than £25.

For home delivery, customers can order food via Uber Eats or Just Eat, depending on your location.

Just remember you'll need to pay a delivery fee on top of your order - this will vary depending on how far away you are from the restaurant.
