MCDONALD'S has reopened 160 drive thrus today causing huge three-hour long queues - and even one super fan who camped overnight.

An image shows a man and his tent outside a McDonald’s in Gosport in Hampshire - even though his restaurant didn't reopen today.

It’s not clear what time of day the picture was taken, but it was believed to have been taken before McDonald's unveiled the locations of another 160 drive thrus this morning.

The fan wouldn't have been able to go into the McDonald's branch today, even if it did reopen, as the chain is only operating drive thrus and deliveries.

Fast food fans have been facing long queues at drive thrus across the UK - including Hull, Glasgow and Wakefield - as the chain finally reopened some northern branches.

It comes after Maccies fans up north had accused the restaurant chain of “hating” them after its first batch of reopened sites were all in the south.

Dozens of cars could be seen lining up across various locations this morning, with some customers taking to social media to say they spent three hours queuing.

The list includes locations up north, including in Yorkshire, Lancashire and Scotland.

McDonald's has also reopened another 22 restaurants for delivery-only orders - although these are all in the south.

The fast food chain has also reopened eight drive-thrus in the Republic of Ireland.

The fast food chain previously told The Sun that the reason why all the locations are in the south is because of distribution and food safety.

McDonald’s plans on having all 924 drive-thru locations open for business by this Thursday, June 4.

Similar scenes of cars queuing up were seen last month when McDonald's reopened its first batch of restaurants.

McDonald's has a slimmed down menu and reduced opening times of 11am to 10pm.

This is due to having less staff working in kitchens at one time.

Sadly for McMuffin fans, the reduced opening hours means there are no breakfast options currently available.

Dining areas of restaurants remain closed to the public.

McDonald's is also asking customers to spend no more than £25 at both drive-thrus and when ordering for home delivery, to try and control high demand.

For delivery restaurants, you can only order food by Uber Eats.

However, you'll need to remember to factor in your delivery fee, which will be calculated based on how far away you are from your nearest restaurant.

The delivery fee won't form part of your £25 spend.

The fast food chain is also now allowing click and collect orders via the My McDonald's app again when using its drive-thrus.

McDonald's says this will help speed up orders after previously warning how their service will take longer than usual.

McDonald's temporarily shut all 1,350 restaurants on March 23.
