Savvy shopper totally transforms muddy garden with £1 grass seed from Poundland
A POUNDLAND shopper has revealed how he completely transformed his garden by using £1 grass seed.
Before and after pictures show how Joshua Harris, 23, turned his muddy backspace into lush green turf.
The grass cost him £6 for six packs of 500g Chatsworth Love Your Lawn seed from Poundland.
Joshua, an IT technician from Brierley Hill in the West Midlands, said the grass seed worked “miracles” on his garden.
He told The Sun: “I never really expected much when I bought the seed, I was just hoping it would make the area a bit less like a mud bath.
“The result were amazing, even after the second week you could see how thick it had started to grow.”
Joshua said he started by raking over the old soil to break up big clumps of dirt and remove dead pieces of grass.
He then put down a fresh layer of compost before throwing down the new seed and raking over the area again.
Joshua watered the seeds twice a day for two to three weeks, apart from when it rained, and poked holes into the earth to help the water get to the roots quicker.
He said: “I was seeing thick grass over the first two weeks.
“Some areas down the sides haven’t grown as fast because I didn’t water them correctly in the first few days but they have started to shoot up now.
“It took me longer to wait in the queues to get into the stores than it did to rake over and seed.”
Elsewhere, 500g of garden seed can cost up to £7 - such as this pack from B&Q.
If you were to buy six packs of this, you'd be paying £42 - meaning Joshua saved a staggering £36.
Sadly, Poundland doesn't offer an online delivery service, so you'll have to pick up a pack of grass seed in store.

Joshua shared his project on the Facebook group, where he was met with thousands of comments praising his gardening DIY.
One savvy shopper said: ";Look how green it is!"
Another commented: "Damn that’s hard to believe but it looks amazing!
"Shows you don’t need expensive things to get a good job done! Well done this is great.";
A third posted: "Works amazing. Used this in the past."
As Joshua used a fresh layer of compost before laying his seed, you’ll need to factor this cost into your shop.
