The offer is available to British Gas customers on the supplier's free Rewards scheme, which is available to all energy customers.
Launched in 2017, the loyalty scheme also offers discounts on restaurants and days out, as well as prize draws for live performances and holidays.
To get the free energy days, simply sign up to British Gas Rewards on or through your online account.
Then go to the list of available offers and claim the free energy days.
How to save on your energy bills
SWITCHING energy providers can sound like a hassle, but it's actually pretty straightforward and saves cash.
1. Shop around - If you're on an standard variable tariff (SVT) deal you are likely throwing away more than £300 a year. Use a comparion site such as , or to see what deals are available to you.
2. Switch - When you've found one, all you have to do is contact the new supplier.
It helps to have the following information - which you can find on your bill - to hand to give the new supplier.
- Your postcode
- Name of your existing supplier
- Name of your existing deal and how much you pay
- An up-to-date meter reading
It will then notify your current supplier and begin the switch.
It should take no longer than three weeks to complete the switch and your supply won't be interrupted in that time.
Alternatively, if you're already a Rewards user, make sure you claim the offer before it expires on May 25.
British Gas customers can get up to 20 free energy days a year through the loyalty scheme, depending on how long they've been with the supplier.
These are always available to users, and on top, British Gas also does three to four surprise freebies throughout the year too.
It told The Sun it's currently offering five extra days for free as customers will likely be spending more time at home and increasing their usage due to coronavirus.
Sadly, you can't choose which five days to get for free yourself, as British Gas takes an average daily price for your usage over the period and deducts that from your next bill.
The energy supplier says the value of the free electricity depends on average consumption and tariff prices.
According to government figures, the average monthly electricity bill stood at almost £57 per month last year.
This means that you'll save roughly £9 by claiming the British Gas offer.
To save even more money on your energy bills, make sure you're on the cheapest deal available to you by following the steps in the box above.
