Royal Mail tracking website went down for hours leaving customers unable to track parcels
ROYAL Mail's tracking website went down for hours this morning leaving customers unable to track their parcels online.
Hundreds of users complained about being unable to see where their packages were.
Although the issues have now been fixed, outage tracker Downdetector had logged almost 300 reports at its peak around 8.30am this morning.
Of those who experienced problems with Royal Mail, 93 per cent complained of issues with the tracking tool.
While 4 per cent experienced issues with the website, and 2 per cent struggled to log in.
A number of customers also complained on Twitter, with one user saying: "@RoyalMail looks like your parcel tracking site is having some issues."
They added: "Trying to track a parcel and there is no response.
"Looking at the browser console, there are loads of script errors."
While another added: "@RoyalMail When will you tracking service be back up and running?
"I have an important parcel on SD 1pm today."
And a third person wrote: "@RoyalMail your online tracking doesn’t seem to be working for me.
"Are you able to track my item?"
The system went down due to a technical issue, but the Royal Mail told The Sun around 1pm today that it'd been restored to full service.
The issue comes just a week after the Royal Mail said it's temporarily scrapping its Saturday letter delivery service due to the coronavirus crisis.
It had previously been delivering letters as normal from Monday to Saturday.
