IT could be a while before you have any professional salon pampering.

This may be good for your bank balance — but less so for your mood.

But do not despair. You can still give yourself some DIY treats and will probably already have what you need around the house. Here are some tips.

Baggy eyes: Brew two tea bags, let them cool until warm and place over your eyes to reduce dark circles and puffiness. If you have fragrant tea bags, pop one in a running bath for an aromatic infusion. Slices of cucumber also work well to cool and soothe your eyes.

Sugar scrub: Give yourself a mini-facial with just three ingredients — coconut oil, sugar and lemon juice. Put half a cup of coconut oil into a bowl (olive oil works, too), with two tablespoons of sugar and one tablespoon of lemon juice. Give it a good mix and apply all over your face. Once washed off with warm water, your skin should be extra-smooth and soft. Just add more sugar to make a full body sugar scrub or even a drop of peppermint oil for a relaxing foot scrub.

Hair care: A haircut at a salon will be out of the question right now. But keeping your locks looking healthy until you can get a professional trim does not have to be difficult. Help make sure your hair maintains its glossy appearance by putting coconut oil into dry hair, then covering it with a shower cap for about half an hour, followed by your usual wash.
