Is Santander bank open today? Coronavirus opening hours and list of closed branches

SANTANDER branches across the UK are mostly still open, although they are running reduced opening hours.

Branches will now open from 10am to 2pm Monday to Friday and are closed over the weekend.

Previously, Santander branches were open from 9:30am to 5pm Monday to Fridays, and from 9:30am to either 12:30pm or 4pm on Saturdays.

Branches have always been closed on a Sunday.

A number of branches have also been closed temporarily, and the bank is encouraging customers to check opening times at their nearby branches using its before heading out.

The Sun asked Santander for the number of branches that have closed and their locations but it was unable to confirm.

As of March 18, Santander has also shut all of its 50 university branches after several universities closed their campuses.

Santander is encouraging people to use its online and mobile banking instead.

For those who had non-essential appointments in branch, they will be having telephone appointments instead.

A spokesperson said: “We would urge customers to use mobile banking, online banking or our online chat service wherever possible in order to allow our branch and contact centre teams to focus on those customers who may need extra support to manage their accounts.

";We apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused.”

The news comes as several other shops and banks have temporarily closed after the number of Covid-19 cases increased dramatically.

Meanwhile, post offices are remaining open as they are an "essential service" according to Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
