Greggs is giving free hot drinks to NHS and emergency service staff to say thanks during coronavirus crisis

GREGGS is giving all NHS, emergency service and social care workers free hot drinks to say thanks for their work during the coronavirus crisis.

The bakery chain will hand out the free drinks in its branches to those who show their work pass.

It comes after McDonald's announced it's also offering free drinks to NHS workers earlier this week.

While Pret A Manger is giving away free hot drinks as well as offering 50 per cent off all food in stores.

Greggs said in a statement: "We’ll be offering all emergency service personnel and health and social care workers free hot drinks on presentation of their work pass.

"They are doing an amazing job, and this is the least we can do to support them."

It added: We’ll continue to monitor the situation closely, reviewing developments and the latest advice, and inform you of any additional steps we need to take.

"We’ll keep as many of our shops open for as long as possible, but you may see a change in our opening hours and range as we respond to this ever-changing landscape."

Eligible workers can get any hot drink for free in its shops only.

A spokesperson told The Sun the offer will be available as long as the bakery chain can keep its branches open.
