Pizza Express closes ALL restaurants for takeaway and delivery due to coronavirus

PIZZA Express has become the latest restaurant chain to close its doors for takeaway and delivery due to the coronavirus outbreak.

It follows Nando's, McDonald’s and Costa Coffee which are all closing restaurants due to the spread of COVID-19.

She added: "I’d like to assure you that we ‘ll open our pizzerias again as soon as it is safe to do so.

"We’ll also continue to increase production of our at home range in order to enhance availability of our pizza in supermarkets during this time.

"Whilst we’re uncertain of what may happen over the coming few weeks, we’ll continue to support our customers, teams and local communities as best we can and we remain committed to helping the UK get through these uncertain times.

"We’ll get through this. Together."

The Sun has asked Pizza Express what will happen to its restaurant workers and whether they'll be paid, but we haven't heard back yet.

Cafes, pubs, bars and restaurants were told to close by the end of the day on Friday (March 20) by Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

But they are still allowed to serve takeaways.

Pret a Manger and Starbucks are also temporarily closing all UK stores due to coronavirus.
