FAMILIES trying to cut the cost of meals can now get recipe boxes serving two or four people for just £5 from Home Bargains.

Each box contains one recipe as well as the relevant meat, fish and veg needed to create the dish, plus a reusable bag for life.

Home Bargains told us it currently has five flavours on offer, with new recipes coming each week.

Current dishes include roast salmon with pesto beans and greens, chicken bang bang and rice, Mediterranean pesto chicken and vegetables, and halloumi and chickpea vegetable curry.

These are all for two people, while there's also a corn and bacon carbonara for four.

The meals for two people work out to be just £2.50 a head, while the corn and bacon carbonara for four is just £1.25 per person.

The only extra ingredients you needed to buy are salt, pepper and olive oil.

One shopper on the snapped up the Mediterranean pesto chicken and vegetable dish for two.

She said this box included a red pepper, 250g of tomatoes, a red onion, a 190g jar of pesto, 300g of potatoes, and a 425g pack of chicken.

In comparison, if you're willing to shop around and buy the ingredients separately, we found you could save 2p on the same items by buying them at Asda where they came to just under £5 at £4.98.

Elsewhere though you'll pay more, with Morrisons costing £8.05 and Tesco charging £5.58.

Others shared their excitement about the box on Facebook and championed the bundle.

One shopper said: “That’s brilliant, thank you for sharing!” while another pointed out the saving that could be had on the deal, writing on the post: “That’s good, had this yesterday and cost me over £12.”

Home Bargains told the Sun Online that the boxes are available in the chain's larger stores across the UK.

Even though this deal is a good one, it’s not the only retailer that has offers in store.

Morrisons has slashed the price of its Cadbury and Thorntons Easter Eggs to £2.

While Aldi is also selling high-end themed Easter Eggs – which are flavoured with gin and Prosecco – which cost just £5.
