customers just need to return any unwanted used shoes to their nearest store to get the money off.

The shoes don’t have to have been purchased from Schuh, so you can hand in a pair from any retailer.

But the money you’ll get in return will come as a voucher, so you can only spend it on products from Schuh.

Schuh says the voucher can be used  in any store or on their website, but it can only be redeemed when you spend £25 or more.

How to save money on shoes

IF shoes are your shopping addiction, you could be saving yourself some serious cash by following these tips.

  • Stick to the sales: It can pay to be patient and wait for the shoes that you've been pining after to go into the sale. Keep an eye on your favourite retailer's websites to check when they're next running a money off event.
  • Buy last season: Shoppers pay more to be trendy, but waiting a few months for your shoes be out of season could save you a fortune. It's worth keeping a tab on a pair of shoes you like and monitoring when they drop down in price to save yourself some cash.
  • Shop out of season: The same goes for out of season shoes. Summer shoes will be cheaper in the winter when no one is buying them, and vice versa.
  • Compare prices: Use websites like to track down the cheapest prices for the shoes you're after. It compares the cost of dozens of brands and retailers to give you the best prices possible.

If you’re shopping online, this won’t include delivery costs.

The voucher also can't be used in conjunction with any other offer or discount.

We’ve asked the shoe company if this includes sale items and we’ll update this article when we know more.

The Sun is also checking if the donated shoes have to be in a certain condition to get the voucher.

The scheme comes as part of a collaboration with Recyclatex, who says it will recycle around 98 per cent of all donations.

Schuh has 132 stores in the UK and Ireland to choose from - use the to track down your nearest one.

This type of scheme isn't available in Office or ShoeZone, making it the first of its type among major shoe retailers.
