Co-op Banking outage locks customers out of accounts
CO-OPERATIVE Bank customers were locked out of accounts this morning after the provider's app and online banking went down.
The bank experienced an outage around 7:45am but three hours later the bank confirmed that its services are back up and running.
While the service was down, Co-op told those who had been affected to .
Earlier this morning, Co-op tweeted: "We are currently experiencing an issue with our app and online banking.
"We're working to fix the problem and will update customers as soon as we can."
More than 100 reports were recorded on complaints tracker when problems started this morning.
Of those complaints, 77 per cent said they experienced problems with online banking, 20 per cent with mobile banking, and 1 per cent with payment cards.
The outage affected customers across the UK in cities including Birmingham, Brighton and Nottingham, as well as Glasgow and Belfast.
The Co-operative Bank is over 145 years old and has around 1.4million current account holders.
One person tweeted: "I have been with the bank since I was 19 - I'm now 47. Seriously considering moving banks - this is getting beyond a joke now.
"Stop outsourcing everything and take it back in-house - then you have more control over it??"
Another wrote: "Wow again?! Gonna be changing banks soon I think. The app is already way behind others out there."
Someone else added: "This is a total joke!!! Asking us to call! I can’t call! So how do I move my money about!
"Again this has stopped me purchasing stuff like travel tickets! Total joke of a service and complaining does nothing!"
The Co-op still hasn't confirmed what caused the outage but says services are back up and running as normal.

In a separate issue, TSB's website also went down this morning leaving customers locked out of accounts.
While HSBC announced this morning that it will be axing 35,000 jobs over the next three years in a bid to stream down its workforce.
And digital bank N26 has said that it will close all 200,000 accounts as it leaves the UK in April.
