TSB website outage locked customers out of accounts

HUNDREDS of TSB customers reported problems with internet banking this morning, which left them locked out of their accounts.
In total, 234 people complained about a lack of service on website Downdetector, but the problems are now said to be fixed.
Of those who complained, 76 per cent said they had problems with internet banking, 12 per cent with mobile banking, and 10 per cent with the website.
One frustrated TSB customer tweeted: "Is anyone else struggling to get onto @TSB's website this morning? I think their website's down."
Someone else responded: "Yes @TSB is down for me too. Others are reporting problems this morning too //downdetector.co.uk/status/tsb/."
He added: "I'm an IT professional on a rock solid internet connection and the website simply doesn't load and reports a DNS error."
Another wrote: "@TSB @TSB_News Looks like your banking website is down again!"
TSB blamed this morning's issues on a BT outage when contacted by The Sun. BT has confirmed it experienced a power cut this morning.
A TSB spokesperson said: "We experienced a brief intermittent issue earlier this morning which meant some customers were unable to access the mobile app and internet banking.
"The issue was resolved fairly quickly and lasted 30 minutes. We apologise to our customers for any inconvenience."
A couple of years ago, a system upgrade at TSB caused disruption to nearly 2million customers.
The IT fiasco left the bank inundated by 40,000 complaints in ten days, more than 13 times the normal rate.
TSB's online banking app and website also went down last year leaving customers locked out of accounts.
