Cheeky eBay sellers flogging McDonald’s 50p Big Mac sauce for £5 a pot
MCDONALD’S Big Mac sauce finally went on sale today - and cheeky eBay sellers are already selling pots for 10 times their original price.
The fast food chain has added 50ml dipping tubs of so-called Special Sauce to the menu for 50p each.
But it appears sellers are already taking advantage of the hype with one person listing them on for £4.99 each.
The eBayer has listed the sauce as "limited edition" as they're expected to be extremely popular and only on sale for up to five weeks.
So far, it appears the seller has sold one of the dipping tubs for the inflated price - and the listing says they've got six more available.
We also spotted someone else selling the pots for the same price, plus there's bigger bottles on eBay going for as much as £77 from a US seller.
But as of 5am this morning, McDonald's fans can buy the pots themselves from their nearest restaurant for a fraction of the price.
Big Mac sauce is a closely guarded secret and is usually only found in the signature burger.
There's no limit on how many tubs customers can buy - but saying that, they do have a seven-day shelf life so make sure you plan on eating the lot.
The dipping pots are also be available to buy as a delivery order via Uber Eats.
To mark the release of the Big Mac sauce, McDonald's is also giving away 250 bottles of the stuff at one London restaurant today, February 12.
It was meant to give out the 250ml bottles yesterday but the delivery of the condiment from Germany was delayed by Storm Ciara.
The giveaway will now take place this afternoon, with customers being told to keep an eye on McDonald's social media channels to find out which restaurant to go to.
They'll be given out to the first 250 people that ask for them, and you don't need to purchase anything else on the menu to get one.
McDonald's last gave away bottles of Big Mac sauce in 2017 - but only in the US.
Not in London today? You can still use the to track down your nearest branch and buy as many dipping tubs as you like.
McDonald's has around 1,200 restaurants to choose from in the UK.
