On the recall notice, manufacturer Koo-di says the drawstring “may present a potential strangulation hazard” for tots.

The Koo-di travel seat is aimed at children between the ages of six and 30 months.

It works by being fixed over the back of a chair so you can secure your child in an upright position while they eat.

Up until this morning, it was being sold on Amazon for £10.19 - but this page has since been taken down after being flagged by The Sun.

Your product recall rights

PRODUCT recalls are an important means of protecting consumers from dangerous goods.

As a general rule, if a recall involves a branded product, the manufacturer would usually have lead responsibility for the recall action.

But it's often left up to supermarkets to notify customers when products could put them at risk.

If you are concerned about the safety of a product you own, always check the manufacturer’s website to see if a safety notice has been issued.

When it comes to appliances, rather than just food items, the onus is usually on you - the customer - to register the appliance with the manufacturer as if you don't there is no way of contacting you to tell you about a fault.

If you become aware that an item you own has been recalled or has any safety noticed issued against it, make sure you follow the instructions given to you by the manufacturer.

They should usually provide you with more information and a contact number on its safety notice.

In some cases, the manufacturer might ask you to return the item for a full refund or arrange for the faulty product to be collected.

You should not be charged for any recall work - such as a repair, replacement or collection of the recalled item.

The travel seat has also been removed from the official Koo-di website, but it is still available through some third-party sellers.

Argos also sells Koo-di products, although it isn’t clear if this particular travel seat was ever sold by the retailer.

It isn’t currently listed on the Argos website.

Customers are being advised to return the travel seat to where they bought it, along with proof of purchase, to get a full refund.

Concerned parents can also call Koo-di direct if they have any questions about the recall process on 01384 298531.

Alternatively, Koo-di can be emailed on [email protected]om.

The product number for the potentially dodgy item is KD066/02.

Koo-di said: “We thank you for your cooperation and apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

In more worrying news for parents, Tesco has recalled Heinz baby food due to fears that jars contain sharp metal.
