Shopper bought £299 Apple Watch in Amazon’s Black Friday sale but is baffled when a TOILET PLUNGER is delivered instead

AN AMAZON shopper has been left baffled after finding a toilet plunger in a parcel he was expecting his new Apple Watch to be delivered in.

John Browne, 31, from London was chuffed when he snapped up an Apple Watch Series 4 for £299 on Black Friday.

The gadgets usually cost £399, so John saved himself £100, and he'd been waiting weeks for a discount on the colour and design he'd been lusting after.

A bargain, or so he thought, until his Amazon delivery arrived and he found a £4.39 black and white toilet plunger nestled in the box - and no Apple Watch.

Worse still, as the watch has now sold out, John's only been given a refund of what he paid meaning the watch is likely to be back at full price by the time it's re-stocked.

Under the Consumer Rights Act, if you bought something from a business to be delivered, it’s the seller’s responsibility to make sure the item is delivered to you.

If you still want your order you can ask the seller to redeliver it or you can get a full refund.

Shoppers who are unhappy with how retailers have handled their order can make a formal complaint.

If that doesn't work, shoppers can take their complaint to a trade association if the seller is a member of one, or check if they can they can use an alternative dispute resolution scheme.

Where retailers refuse to pay out refunds, you can check if you can get your money back under Section 75 or chargeback from your credit card provider or via PayPal.

An Amazon spokesperson said: “We are taking this matter seriously and are investigating.”

Asos has also come under fire on Black Friday with shoppers accusing it of "putting prices up and faking" Black Friday discounts.

While Superdrug shoppers have been charged multiple times despite online orders "not going through" in Black Friday sales.

And the GHD website went down for maintenance on the biggest shopping day of the year.
