ASDA is selling a bizarre range of festive flavoured cheeses for Christmas including one that tastes like gingerbread and another like after dinner mints.
We've heard of gingerbread cheesecake before but never gingerbread cheese, and we couldn't find anything else out there like it.
It's a Yorkshire Wenselydale cheese that's made with gingerbread sauce and biscuit crumbs, and because it's a Wensleydale, it's creamy and crumbly too.
It's shaped like a gingerbread man and is one of a range of four cheeses that are also shaped like Christmas characters.
There's also a plain flavoured Wensleydale cheese in the shape of a snowman, a cheddar cheese in red wax that's in the shape of Father Christmas and a reindeer red Leicester.
The cheeses come in 90g packages but contain around 367 calories per 100g, and cost £1 each.
Another addition to the cheeseboard this year is the supermarket's own brand after dinner mint flavoured Stilton.
This type of cheese is normally super strong but this version is actually made with mint chocolate too.
The cheese comes in 100g packs and also cost £1 each.
We couldn't find any other supermarket cheeses that's been made with the same flavours, although last year Ocado sold mint chocolate chip white Stilton that cost £5.99 for 500g.
Here's how to cut the cost of your grocery shop
SAVING on your shop can make a big difference to your wallet. Here are some tips from Hannah Maundrell, editor of Money.co.uk, about how you can cut the cost of your shopping bills:
- Write yourself a list – Only buy items that you need. If it isn’t on your list, don’t put it in the trolley
- Create a budget – Work out a weekly budget for your food shopping
- Never shop hungry – you are far more likely to buy more food if your tummy is rumbling
- Don’t buy pre-chopped veggies or fruit – The extra they’ll charge for chopping can be eye watering
- Use social media – follow your favourite retailers to find out about the latest deals
- Be disloyal – You may want to go to different stores to find the best bargains
- Check the small print – It’s always worth checking the price per kg/lb/litre when comparing offers so you’re making a like for like decision as a bigger box won’t necessarily mean you get more
- Use your loyalty cards – Don’t be afraid to sign up to them all. They all work slightly differently – work out what bonus suits you better and remember to trade in your points for additional rewards
The cheeses were spotted by Instgrammer who shared a snap of them to their 104,000 followers.
One person commented under the snacks: "The gingerbread one is delicious. I had it last year and was gutted when they stopped selling it so I've alrady started stockpiling."
But another customer said they'd already tried the after dinner mint one and wasn't convinced.
She wrote: "It was revolting. Like eating Vix vapour rub and crumbly cheese. My whole family passed on it!"
We've got to admit, we're not sure that we'll be replacing our After Eights with the savoury snack just yet either.
But if you're willing to give them a try, they're available to buy online and in stores now - you can find your .
