Viewers says Sky is ‘winner of Christmas adverts’ after it reveals epic return of ET
HOUSEHOLDS are getting all the festive feels with Sky's new Christmas advert featuring ET, and they reckon it's the best yet.
The advert for the telecoms company sees the lovable alien return to visit old pal Elliot, who's now grown-up and has a family of his own.
Elliot is played by the same actor (Henry Thomas), as in the original E.T the Extra-Terrestrial film, which was released in June 1982 and directed by Steven Spielberg.
The message of the advert is to "reconnect" this Christmas and it sees ET paying his childhood friend a visit over the festive period before returning home to his own family.
It even recreates ET's iconic flying bike scene with Elliot's two young children.
And it seems viewers are loving it. One person wrote on Twitter: "@SkyUK I applaud you! Best Christmas ad yet, you made me blub. Still got my ET [toy] after all these years, now belongs to my little boy."
Another said: "OMG... the winner of the Christmas Ad campaign for 2019 goes to @SkyUK for their E.T advert. Sorry John Lewis.
"It should be played every year like the Coca Cola Ad - BRILLIANT. Love it ❤️ #ETReturns #ETChristmasAd #OldSkool #ET"
Someone else added: "I've lost count how many times I've watched this now and blubbed every time. Think Sky just won the battle of the Christmas ad's #ETphonehome #ET"
Another commented: "Forget the M&S or John Lewis Christmas Ad, Sky just claimed the top spot for 2019. #ET #PhoneHome"
Someone else tweeted: "Okay Sky you win for best Christmas ad this year."
And another person said: "And the winner of best Christmas ad 2019 is Sky. Had me close to tears today and feeling six-years-old again!!!"
