The Black Friday items that are actually cheaper four weeks later – including iPhones, cameras and washing machines

SOMETIMES hitting the Black Friday sales can be a great way of getting a bargain, but there are some items where it's actually much cheaper to wait a few weeks before you buy.

New research has shown that lots of tech and electrics such as smartphones, laptops and even dishwashers drop in price substantially after Black Friday.

In fact, exactly four weeks after the Black Friday sales is the best time to shop for these items, according to research carried out by Idealo on behalf of

Idealo looked at some of the most popular items bought in last year's sale and compared prices on the day and four weeks later.

On average, it looked at eight retailers to examine the prices for each popular item.

It found that consumers would generally save £105.85 on laptops if they waited the till a month after the sale ended.

Washing machines were also £150 cheaper after the four-week period.

Smartphones, DSLR cameras and video games were also cheaper.

Our tips for finding the best deals this Black Friday and Cyber Monday

IT might be tempting to dive in and snap up LOADS of items on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but here’s how you can guarantee you’re getting a good deal.

PREPARE Research the items you want to buy and find out the cheapest price. Websites like PriceSpy, PriceHistory and CamelCamelCamel will give you historical data on prices so you can see how much you should pay.

GET FOLLOWING Follow your favourite shops on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram and sign up to its deals newsletter to get the latest on any offers. We post the best deals in our too.

EARN CASHBACK Check websites like Quidco and TopCashback BEFORE you place your order. Cashback websites PAY you to shop. All you have to do is click through their links and the money is added to your online account, usually within 14 days.

CHECK FOR CODES Take a look at The Sun Vouchers, and see if you can get extra savings with discount codes.

For instance, someone buying an Apple iPhone 8 Plus last year, would have saved themselves £21 if they'd held their nerve and avoided the Black Friday sales.

The Google Pixel 2XL was a whopping £100 cheaper for shoppers who waited till December to make a purchase.

Another Apple product worth waiting for is the iPad.

Last year buying the iPad Pro 11 before the sales began would have set you back £795, on the day itself it cost £750, but waiting those few extra weeks took the price down to £740.

Some items genuinely were cheaper on Black Friday last year.

For instance the Microsoft Xbox One X was at its cheapest on the day.

While waiting till Black Friday only cost £7, prices rose steeply afterwards so waiting would have cost you £21.

There's plenty of bargains again on consoles this year, so keep your eyes peeled.

Of the 13 most popular categories searched for in the sales season, only two were found to be consistently cheaper on the day itself.

Both TVs and perfumes tend to be at their least expensive on Black Friday itself, so it's a good times to buy.
