SAVVY shoppers will splurge £1.5billion today as “Black Saturday” sees stores offering a slew of early deals.

After slow autumn trading, retailers are slashing prices the weekend before Black Friday to lure bargain-hunters.

Left: Debenhams Debut bottle green velvet Bardot midi dress... Was: £49 Now: £34.30 Saving: £14.70 — Right: Topman grey super skinny fit check suit blazer with notch lapels... Was: £110 Now: £30 Saving: £80

So expect a packed High Street. And those buying on their laptop may face virtual queues. All items here would have cost £7,846 in total but you can get them for £3,262 less.

Professor Joshua Bamfield, of the Centre for Retail Research, said: “Stores are encouraging shoppers to spend after a quiet spell by expanding Black Friday into two weeks.”
