Poundland is no longer a poundshop as it ditches £1 price limit
POUNDLAND has ditched its famous £1 price point as the discounter rolls out its new 50p to £5 price range.
From today, shoppers in all 800-plus stores across the UK will be able to snap up items for 50p, 75p, £1, £1.50, £2, £3, £4 and £5.
Poundland first started selling items for £2 and £5, alongside its traditional £1, back in 2017.
But it then trialled its new larger range of price points in 24 West Midlands stores back in August, before confirming in October plans to launch the scheme nationwide.
The new prices will be on selected lines across household goods, health and beauty, and grocery products.
Poundland reckons these ";simple" price points will provide shoppers with more choice and value but adds that 75 per cent of items will remain at £1.
Examples of what shoppers can nab include Matchmakers for 75p (£1 is the next cheapest price elsewhere), a 24-pack of Walkers crisps for £3 (£3 is also the cheapest price elsewhere), and Comfort Blue Skies fabric conditioner for £4 (we found it for £3 elsewhere).
Barry Williams, Poundland managing director said: “We’ve introduced simple pricing in time for Christmas so we can offer customers even more choice and even better value for money.
“Our shoppers love the amazing value we provide and now we can begin bringing that value on wider ranges that they now can find in stores for the first time."

The move follows the introduction of clothing in around 300 stores and a pilot of fresh and frozen ranges in five stores in Yorkshire and Derbyshire.
Poundland is also unveiling a range of £10 products this month including bulk boxes of washing powder.
