How NHS, police and fire service workers can get up to 60% off supermarket food

NHS, police and fire service workers can get up to 60 per cent off supermarket food from a little-known discount retailer.

Company Shop Group is a small chain, which buys surplus food from supermarkets that would otherwise go to waste, and then sells it for up to 60 per cent less in its stores.

It stocks everything from food to household goods to garden and pet care with products from the likes of Aldi, Asda, Co-op, Iceland, Lidl, Ocado, M&S, Morrisons, Sainsbury's, Tesco and Waitrose.

Company Shop Group says its goal is to protect the planet and minimise environmental waste, which it does by selling stock retailers can't shift.

This could be anything from food with a short shelf-life that's been oversupplied to products with damaged boxes or items with old packaging or branding on them.

Other examples of items stocked include discontinued lines, trial products, and stock with foreign labels.

She said she was invited to go along to one of the branches of the with her mother-in-law, who has a membership.

While there, Georgie nabbed £16 worth of items including "loads of brands and supermarkets, even Waitrose", while she even grabbed her son a couple of M&S school jumpers for just £1 each.

The items she picked up were mostly short dated, but she says she'll just "bung it in the freezer" as it's "such a help in short weeks."
