YOU no longer need to brave the cold or break the bank to gorge on your favourite autumnal coffee as Lidl is selling a new pumpkin spice coffee that costs just 25p a latte.

An instant version of the popular pumpkin spice coffee made by drinks brand Beanies is now available at the discounter for £1.99 per 50g jar.

That works out as 8p per cup of coffee, or just 25p per pumpkin spice latte (PSL) if you follow a basic recipe of adding hot milk to an espresso-sized quantity of brewed instant coffee (based on a 2-pint bottle of Asda's own-brand milk).

That’s a saving of £3.45 on the classic Starbucks PSL, which costs £3.70, and a £1.95 saving on the cheaper £2.20 Greggs version.

For those counting the calories, the Beanies-branded instant coffee is also better for the waistline.

An espresso-sized shot is 2 calories, working out to around 127 calories per latte with skimmed milk or 160 calories with whole milk.

In stark contrast, a grande (medium) Starbucks PSL made with whole milk and topped with whipped cream has 420 calories.

An adult man should have around 2,500 calories a day while it's 2,000 for a woman, according to NHS guidelines.
