How mum-of-three gets restaurant roast dinners worth £12 for £3.29 using revolutionary new app

A SAVVY mum-of-three buys restaurant roast dinners worth £12 each for just £3.29 using a nifty food app, and she reckons it saves her hundreds of pounds a year.

Holly Lewis, 32, found out about Too Good To Go a year ago through a friend and now she uses it at least once a week.

The free app connects you with thousands of restaurants and shops around the country that want to sell their surplus food at a discount.

It helps the single stay-at-home mum, from Highley in Shropshire, cut costs while also treating her daughters Khloe, eight, Emily, nine, and Hannah, 11, to a tasty takeaway.

The favourite is a roast at a Farmhouse Inn in Kidderminster, where she picks up two large meals for £3.29 each.

It's enough to feed the whole family and sometimes even her three dogs - BB, Bella and Splodge.

The dish comes with a choice of three meats, Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes or mash and a wide range of vegetables.

Another restaurant where they go regularly is a local Chinese, where they can get an all-you-can-eat buffet for a third of the price at just £4.99.

She told The Sun: "Having three children, it would cost a lot to go out and eat.

"But with the app you get everything that you'd get if you just went by and paid a lot more, and you get to take it with you home instead.

"When you’ve been busy all day, it’s nice to just be able to grab a cheap meal without having to worry about cooking for hours."

Too Good To Go app lets you their surplus food from restaurants at a discount price

How does Too Good To Go work?

TOO Good To Go connects hungry Brits with restaurants and shops that want to sell their surplus food at a discount.

The free app has partnered up with 2,125 stores and restaurants across the country, so you have plenty of choice to find bargains.

Users have to pay for the food but you'll be given big discounts.

Of course, prices vary depending on what you get but you'll generally get three times the value you paid.

The idea is that shoppers get discounted food, while businesses can reduce their waste while also potentially winning new customers by letting them try their stuff.

It comes in handy as 10 million tonnes of food is thrown away each year - the weight of 190 Titanics.

iPhone users can download the app from the , while it's available for users here.

It's similar to food waste app , which has more than 2,000 businesses signed up.

But the app doesn't just partner up with restaurants, Holly also uses it to top up her weekly shop from a local farm store.

"It sells bread, fruitcakes, scones and vegetables - there's quite a bit to make meals out of."

She recently picked up things such as bread, vegetables and eggs for just £2.99.

Holly says she lives "in the middle of nowhere", so she often buys meals for her mum who lives next door and an elderly neighbour too.

As Too Good To Go lets you pay just a third of what the food's worth or less, the frugal mum estimates she's saved several hundreds of pounds over the past year.

She said: "Sometimes I’ve used it twice a week and sometimes I’ve picked up five meals at the same time.

"And when you think [the £3.29 dish] is usually £12 a meal, you save quite a bit."

Her three daughters are also loving the app as it means they can eat out more often than usual.

Holly told us: "Me and my kids find it a little adventure when we find new ones that pop up or if we’ve gone out for the day, and find new ones in the area.

"It sounds really daft, but it’s an adventure going out to find new food.

"We get to try things that we’d never normally buy."

Last month, a savvy mum-of-three explained how she spends under £10 a week on 15 packed lunches.

Another savvy parent feeds her family of 10 on just £150 a week with amazon McDonald's and Nando's "fakeaways".

Earlier this week, a mum shared her best tops for bagging freebies after winning £1,000 worth of free stuff.
