Aldi is selling spicy pigs in blankets made with the world’s second hottest chilli for Christmas

ALDI has spiced up its Christmas selection for this year with pigs in blankets that contain the world’s second hottest chilli, the Trinidad Scorpion.

This means the latest festive offering from the discounter will give your turkey dinner a serious kick if you're a lover of spicy food.

The fiery Scorpion chilli notches up a heat rating of 1,463,700 on the Scoville scale, putting them just behind the Carolina Reaper which is dubbed the world’s hottest.

It's not clear yet if the chilli is infused in the sausage or applied as a spicy sauce but we've asked Aldi and we'll update this story as soon as we get a response.

We also don't know the price of the spicy snacks, although Aldi has confirmed they'll be available nationwide from December 5.

This isn't the only twist on the classic pig in blanket that we've seen coming from Aldi this year.

The discounter unveiled its Christmas menu in full this week and confirmed it'll be selling .

For those with a bigger stomach, Aldi is also flogging a whopping 6ft long pig in blanket.

We couldn't find another UK supermarket selling spicy pigs in blankets just yet but keep your eyes peeled for more Christmas food being rolled out.

Aldi is telling customers to check its page for more information about when you can pre-order its festive food.

In the meantime, if you want to visit one of Aldi's 830 UK stores you can n its website.

The grocer is no stranger to spicy sausages and has previously delighted shoppers with sausages containing the Carolina Reaper chilli in February.

While it also sold mini "chilli chubbies" that tasted of sriracha, jalapeno and habanerno back in July.
