Aldi is selling a copycat Colin the Caterpillar called Cuthbert – and it’s £2 cheaper
MOVE over Colin the Caterpillar – Aldi has a cheaper version of the much-loved Marks and Spencer (M&S) cake and his name is Cuthbert.
The discounter’s chocolate roll cake is almost identical to the M&S equivalent, even down to the white chocolate face.
Just like Colin, Cuthbert is made with a chocolate sponge cake filled with chocolate buttercream.
He's then topped with a hard chocolate shell and multi-coloured sweets for decoration.
Aldi has priced their caterpillar cake at £4.99 which is a saving of £2.01 compared to the £7 you'll pay for a Colin from M&S.
Sadly we can't see Cuthbert being sold on the Aldi website and the supermarket has confirmed he's being trailed out in three regions.
The discounter has around 830 stores in the UK and you can .
We've asked Aldi how many calories and how much sugar the new Cuthbert cake contains.
Colin the Caterpillar contains 290 calories and 31.8g of sugar per one 62g size serving.
The sugar count is more than the recommended 30g daily allowance set by the NHS for men and women.
Men are advised to consume no more than 2,500 calories a day, while it's 2,000 for women.
Aldi isn't the only supermarket to bring out a Colin copy, as also has its own caterpillar cake called Wiggles for £6.
While sells Curly the Caterpillar, also for £6.
MORE ON MONEY
If you're already getting in the mood for Christmas, M&S has given Colin a festive makeover as part of its new seasonal range.
M&S is also selling Christmas Colin the caterpillar sweets that look like candy canes.
But if you can't bear to think about the most wonderful time of the year just yet, the grocer is also doing a Halloween edition Colin.
