Remember R&B singer Lemar? Here’s what the former Fame Academy contestant is up to now

THE WORLD fell in love with the sultry tones of R&B singer Lemar back in 2002 when the fresh-faced singer entered the BBC's answer to Pop Idol, Fame Academy.

Most people don't remember that Lemar actually came third in the competition, behind runner-up Sinead Quinn and winner David Sneddon.

But as those two names are all but forgotten, it's clear to see who the real winner was.

Lemar, now 39, had great success following the show, releasing a total of six albums and winning a host of Brit and MOBO awards.

His most memorable tracks include party classic 50/50 and more sombre ballad If There's Any Justice.

In 2008 the popular singer became a father for the first time, when his partner Charmaine Powell gave birth to a baby girl named Nyiema Obika.

They later had a second child named Uriah Obika.
