JOLLY revellers braved the rain and heavy winds for a glamorous day out at York races.
High-spirited racegoers descended on the Ebor Festival today in an array of pretty, colourful dresses, elaborate hats and towering high heels.
Dodgy weather didn’t stop play, and gaggles of pals were seen giggling under colourful brollies and makeshift rain macs.
The attendees certainly dressed to impress and prizes for the best outfits were handed out on the Ebor Fashion Lawn.
The gates opened at 11.15am, and it was clear many were in the party spirit.
Groups of friends were spotted heading straight for the bar for a glass of fizz – and with more than five different bars to choose from, they were spoilt for choice.
With no strict dress code in place, ladies were able to let their own personal styles shine through.
The York Racecourse website promises “plenty of hats and sharp suits mixed with those sporting more relaxed summer clothing”.
Guests are encouraged to adhere to “taste and decency”, with slogan t-shirts and bare chests strictly banned.
Male revellers in the County Stand are required to wear a jacket and collared shirt but the dress code is more relaxed in Grandstand & Paddock and Course Enclosure.
