Stab in the dark

Game of Thrones fans have an epic prediction for who will end up killing the Night King… and it’s NOT Jon Snow

THE way this season of Game of Thrones is shaping up, you could be forgiven for expecting an epic final showdown between Jon Snow and the Night King.

However, fans have spotted something very subtle which suggests that the king of the White Walkers won't be offed by the gruff King in the North.

Instead, Game of Thrones buffs reckon that another much-loved character will finish the White Walkers off, thanks to a hint all the way back in season four.

In a theory outlined on , a fan of HBO's fantasy epic makes the bold, but entirely believable, prediction that Jaime Lannister will be the one to save the world from the zombie army.

After the antics of the action-packed latest episode, we learned that killing a Walker will also do away with every zombie soldier they created.

So offing the Night King, the head-honcho of the Army of the Dead, would be enough to kill off the entire army.

However, it's probably going to take a huge sacrifice to get close enough to the King to have a stab at him.

And according to Thrones fans, that's where gold-plated Jaime Lannister comes in.

The theory stems back to season four, when Joffrey reads through Jaime's page in the Book of Brothers, where the Kingsguards' great achievements are all listed.

Joffrey notes that Jaime's page is barely filled, leaving plenty of room for epic exploits later on in the Thrones saga.

Now fans think that Jaime's great deed will be sacrificing himself to kill the Night King and bring the Army of the Dead to its bony knees.

And who could be more fitting to slay the king of the White Walkers than the Kingslayer himself?

The theory goes: "If/when Cersei dies (possibly by Jaime's hand), I do not believe he will have a want or a will to move on.

The theory suggests Jaime will take on the Night King after killing Cersei... meaning he'll have killed three monarchs

"He will look back at his life and know that he has not accomplished a ton and he will not want to die the Kingslayer...unless that king is the Night King.

"I believe when the time comes and there is an opportunity to end it all by killing him, Jaime will step up and write his name in the history books.

"That scene with Joffrey and Jaime was very powerful to me, foreshadowing what is to come for Jaime; but it has not yet."

And this isn't the only incredible Game of Thrones fan theory which we are hoping will come true.

Previously, we told how Jon's pet wolf, Ghost, could hold an amazing clue which reveals where the plot is heading next.

And another shocking theory suggests that there's bad news for Daenerys now Jon is willing to bend the knee.
