Beauty expert reveals the one thing you should NEVER do when it comes to removing pubic hair… and her top tips for DIY grooming
A BEAUTY expert has revealed the one thing you should NEVER do when it comes to removing pubic hair.
Beautician Sam Marshall, who’s known as , specialises in intimate waxing and promises she's seen it all.
After a new survey discovered that a surprising amount of people are injuring themselves while grooming down below, we asked Sam for her top tips when it comes to intimate hair removal.
With DIY intimate waxing, Sam says that this is something that should be left to the professionals.
She told Sun Online: “The general public don’t know how to wax and they shouldn’t really do it – it would be like me trying to fix my car.
“They usually don’t know how to apply it, or which way to pull it.
“That’s why it’s open to so many things to go wrong, because you’re trying to do something that people have to be specially trained to do.
“You can tear your skin, both the labia and the scrotum can tear quite easily.”
And if torn skin isn’t enough to put you off doing your own waxing, you may want to take note of a waxing horror story shared by a client.
Sam said: “Someone decided to heat a DIY wax strip with a hairdryer because they thought it would be more effective if it was hot.
“They stuck it to their undercarriage, burnt themselves because it was too hot and tried to rip it off - but the strip came off and the wax stayed on the hair.

“They then decided to get in the bath because they thought the warm water would help to dissolve the wax and they ended up sticking their labia together.
“They had to scrape the wax off the hairs and ended up shaving off wax to try and get unstuck.”
But, if you are determined to do your own pubic hair removal, Sam does have a few words of advice...
Waxing
Sam says: “With wax strips, bruising is also a big one.
“If you are going to do it yourself, use peelable hot wax – not strip wax.
“If you’re going to do anything around the genital area, hot or peelable wax isn’t as painful and it works on gripping the hairs as it sets rather than using the stick of the wax – so it’s not as traumatic on the skin.
“Also be careful of microwavable wax – you can’t control the temperature at all – you can get hot spots and burn yourself easily."

Shaving
With shaving, Sam says it's wise to avoid the bum area, she adds: “Trying to shave your own bum has got to be the hardest thing in the world to do because you can’t see it."
“With shaving, ingrown hairs are also really common.
“A lot of the blades shave so close that the skin can quite easily grow over the top of the follicle – especially if the skin is dry.
“When it comes to ingrown hairs, I would always try to prevent them.
“There are prevention products on the market for bikini lines that contain salicylic acid, which traps oil, so will help stop the follicles from getting ‘plugged’.
“Manual exfoliation, to clear away dead skin, and keeping the skin soft and moisturising can also help prevent them."
One thing to avoid...
And when it comes to the one thing people should never do, Sam says it all comes down to TRIMMING.
She says: “When it comes for going for a wax, my rule is ‘if you can’t see the skin, you need to trim.
“But never trim with scissors – I would always advise using clippers.
“With scissors, the hairs usually spring back really short – making it a struggle to get the hairs out.
“Use a beard trimmer over the toilet if you are going to trim!”
