Body art enthusiasts are now getting tiny tattoos on their THUMBS

BODY art lovers have inked an array of unusual places from their tongues to their armpits.

Now, a new trend sees tattoo enthusiasts showcasing eye-catching designs on their thumbs.

The inkings are gaining popularity on with fans sharing photographs of their cute and colourful emblems.

A vibrant sunset, a rainbow and mini anchors are some of the most charming tatts.

warned that while thumbs tattoos are “original and striking” there are some downsides.

“Statistically, finger tattoos are one of the types people decide to remove because they’re in a very visible area and can become really tiresome,” the experts said.

“Another disadvantage is that they are in a difficult area to tattoo and the designs have to be very small.”

Less intricate designs work better as inking on something really detailed can end in disaster.

In June, we revealed tattoo lovers were getting elaborate designs inked onto their elbows.

“The elbow is one of the most painful places to get a tattoo, making getting great work on an elbow a little trickier than most other places,” revealed .

The healing process may also take longer than tattoos on other areas of the body.

commented: “Along with the pain you need to give credence to the fact that due to the tricky location of the tattoo, the healing process may take longer.

“This can affect the carrying out of your normal activities and limit the work you can get done till such time the tattoo heals.”

We also revealed tatt lovers have been busy showing off their knee inkings.

Luke Edwards, from Exile Tattoo, which is based in Leigh-on-Sea, said he “nearly passed out” while getting his left knee inked.

Writing on , he advised having the tattoo done over two sessions to “feel more comfortable” as he “personally bit off more than I could chew” having his design in one sitting.

Other tatt lovers have removed their socks and showcased the bizarre designs they’ve had tattooed onto their feet.

From retro cartoon characters to shriek-inducing spiders and colourful cars, these doodles are for the bold only.
