Lidl made a very cheeky typo about men’s trousers in its newsletter… and then dealt with it in the best way

The budget supermarket's Ireland branch accidentally advertised its men's work trousers using a very inappropriate image

LIDL was left cringing after it made a very awkward typo in its newsletter... but made up for it with its hilarious response on social media.

The Irish branch of the supermarket mistakenly advertised its men's work trousers using an image of women's underwear.

It then tweeted a snap of the error, captioning it: "Dear men of Ireland, we would like to confirm that this was a typo in our newsletter, please DO NOT go to work in just these. Thanks, Lidl."

Since it was shared earlier today, the tweet has received more than 400 retweets and nearly 1,200 likes.

It also sparked an epic discussion about the awkward blunder - and the Lidl customer services worker dealing with it won top marks for banter.

When one Twitter user commented: "Err I've bought 4 already?!", the employee replied: "In which case, you might be okay if you wear all four pairs at once but you'll have to check with your employer directly."

In response to the claim the supermarket had "upset a nation", the worker shot back: "Typical Thursday."

The barrage of amusing comments continued, and when one Twitter user suggested the employee should get a raise, they replied: "We already get paid in bakery items, there's nothing higher than that."

When asked if the episode was a PR stunt, the worker admitted: "Our boss wishes we were that clever...".

Nicely done, Lidl.
