Kate Middleton’s necklace has a secret hidden meaning… and it’s all about Princess Diana
A NECKLACE gifted to Kate Middleton by her sister Pippa includes a secret tribute to Princess Diana.
The Duchess of Cambridge is lucky enough to be able to wear some of the world’s most valuable jewellery.
Not only has she been presented with priceless jewels by her husband Prince William, such as that engagement ring, but she is also loaned a variety of the Queen’s crowns, tiaras and necklaces on a regular basis.
Taking that in to account, it must be pretty hard for sister Pippa Middleton to know what to give as a gift to her Royal sibling.
But is seems the younger Middleton sister managed to purchase Kate an exceptionally meaningful piece of jewellery when she gave birth to Prince George.
According to , Pippa bought a Merci Maman necklace for the Duchess back in 2013 – the necklace continuing a tradition first started by Princess Diana when she gave birth to Kate’s husband, Prince William.
Kate's necklace features a gold-plated disc inscribed with the words “George Alexander Louis”, alongside it is a smaller charm engraved with a “W” for William, as well as a charm in the shape of a little boy.
Diana wore a similar necklace, which was given to her by Prince Charles, and it included the word “William” engraved on the front.
PRENUPTIAL AGREEMENT Here’s why Prince William doesn’t wear a wedding ring
Merci Maman wrote in a blog post: "Upon the birth of Prince William in 1982, Prince Charles gave Diana the gift of a gold pendant engraved their new son’s name, which she always wore close to her heart.
"In 2013, Pippa Middleton continued this family tradition by giving her sister Kate, The Duchess of Cambridge, our Personalised Duchess Necklace to celebrate the birth of Prince George."
