Former Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman, 59, praised for posting unedited bikini selfie as she enjoys Greek holiday
The 51-year-old journalist, who left the fashion bible in June, has been applauded for her "honest" snap
SHE recently stepped down as editor-in-chief of Vogue after a staggering 25 years at the fashion bible.
And it seems Alexandra Shulman is enjoying a well-earned break as she shared a candid bikini selfie while soaking up the sun in Greece.
Posting the unedited snap on on Wednesday, she wrote: “Ready for the boat trip!”
Posing in her bedroom mirror, Alexandra can be seen wearing a black and white two-piece from Boden, has her brunette hair scraped back in a messy bun and appears to have gone make-up free.
The laid-back look is a world away from the glossy, polished style she rocked as a fashion editor – and it’s earned her a lot of praise online.
The selfie has racked up nearly 5,000 likes, with fans applauding her “honesty”.
“So lovely to see a photo that hasn’t been edited or adjusted! You look incredible,” commented one impressed fan, as another added: “A good honest shot. You’ve gone back up in my humble estimation.”
“Total role model,” gushed one admirer, as another said: “Respect! For showing how you can be stylish whilst looking like a real woman with curves. Inspirational. Women need to love each other, not tear each other down.”
Another asked: “Why was this not our September cover?! Brilliant.”
“Good on you as we all need to see a real woman in her swim gear,” said one social media user.
“It’s something the majority of women don’t enjoy don’t but let’s make it about real women’s bodies and less Love Island. You look try and fab.”
Alexandra, who has previously described herself as “slightly overweight”, once moaned about “the pressure of the beauty parade we all undergo”.
“Despite all this, I am comfortable in my body. I don’t think it’s particularly great,” she told .
“But it doesn’t bother me hugely and makes me realise that being comfortable with your figure has relatively little to do with how you actually look.”
She added: “My chosen method of preparation for the great summer unveiling is to have a really good pedicure, so that my toes are ready to greet the fresh air for the first time this year – with a little help from three layers of Butter’s coral-coloured Macbeth varnish.”
Alexandra announced in January that she would be leaving Vogue, and has been replaced by Edward Enninful, a former fashion director at i-D Magazine.
Sharing a shot of her final cover online, she wrote: “So excited to receive my final issue of Vogue as Editor-in-chief.
“Filled with fashion and memories and the women who made a difference in the past quarter of a century.”
