This real-life witch casts spells on pals who annoy her… and it’s so easy, YOU could do it too
Nicola Kelleher claims all you need to stop bitchy friends talking about you is a piece of paper and a GHERKIN
NICOLA Kelleher has a very simple way of dealing with irritating and toxic friends – she casts a spell to keep them out of her life.
The 30-year-old is a self-proclaimed witch, and has developed a knack for quite literally freezing people out of her social circle.
Speaking to The Sun Online, she explained: “I had a friend who wasn't great.
“I knew a spell that would keep her away but not harm her.
“Anyone who is hounding you or you need to just go away, this spell works a treat.”
The spell is simple – and it’s what Nicola refers to as "kitchen magic".
She insists that by simply writing the name of the person you want space from on a piece of paper and freezing it in a bag of water, you can be rid of them for good.
She laughed: “My freezer's full of old friends and troubled people… I might have to buy a bigger one.”
Nicola, who also works as a TV presenter and model, cracked out her trusty spell when her partner was involved in a car smash.
She said: “My boyfriend was in a car accident, the police came and everyone said they were fine.
“But a week or so later, he had a letter from his insurers claiming that woman in the car had whiplash.
“I wrote the woman's name on a piece of paper and placed it in a bag of water and put it in the freezer.
“He never heard from her again.”
But there are things to bear in mind if you choose to cast such a spell yourself – mainly that if you want to welcome that person back in to your life, it’s not as simple as just thawing out their name and acting like nothing happened.
She said: “What you're supposed to do is empty the bag so you have the ice and then bury it.
“Breaking the spell is not easy to do, but there are other spells you can do to bring a friend back.”
Nicola also mentions another spell which is meant to stop being saying unkind things about you behind your back.
She said: “There is a very similar one with a gherkin.
“If someone is speaking badly about you put their name in a sliced pickle and freeze it.”
Nicola adds that her expertise is "not Wicca and definitely not black magic, it's more like cosmic ordering and positive affirmations, and a bit of kitchen witchery."
And while talk of spells and potions might sound outlandish, Nicola has spent decades casting, learning and discussing spells – and her thorough knowledge of the subject inspired her to write a book, Very Practical Magic.

She said: “I have given the gherkin and bag of ice spells to a lot of people when they’ve asked me for help.
“I thought, ‘I have so many other spells I should write them down and put them in a book’.
“When I started it three years ago, a publisher warned me that it was ‘too wacky’, but I think attitudes have changed a lot.
“People have stopped wanting spells and psychic advice about how to feel better about themselves, and now they want to take action to prevent situations, or welcome good changes in to their lives.
“The book includes things I've read and picked up from other witches, or things I have adapted myself.
“Years ago people would use sheep’s bladders but you can now use glass or plastic bottles. It's less gruesome and means my spells are suitable for vegans too.”
Glass bottles, pickles and bits of paper are just a fraction of the shopping list needed for Nicola’s kitchen spells, which also require candles, crystals and herbs, dried or fresh.
She said: “A lot of the spells have a positive affirmation with them.
“I'm not saying that every spell is definitely going to work, there's an element of patience, divine intervention and faith.
“They are all positive and they are all aimed to give people an insight in to their lives."
Nicola is passionate about her craft, which she has quite literally spent her entire life perfecting – and ones before now.
She describes herself as a “strange child”, and adds that she always wanted to be a witch, ever since she was a toddler.
She said: “I was a strange child and people would ask what I wanted to be when I grew up, and I always said 'a witch'.
“I always wanted to play witches – even though I had never explicitly been told anything about them, I was always interested in it.
“I’ve since been told I was a witch in a previous life, which might explain it.”
Nicola doesn’t only use her powers and incantations to rid herself of emotional vampires, she’s also trying to cure her beloved pet dog of cancer.
Last week she was given the sad news that her cherished pet had a tumour on his nose – and she immediately decided to take positive action.
She explained: “I've been doing some healing on him.
“Animal healing involves putting your hands on their body and imagine white light going through them.
“I've been covering my dog in crystals as he just lies there.
“I was healing him the other day with a selenite crystal which is the shape of a unicorn horn.
“Once the session is finished and the crystals have been taken off him, he leaps up and runs around, so they’re definitely doing something!”
Nicola’s book, Very Practical Magic will be released later this year.
