Gethin Jones reveals he still keeps in touch with his ex Lucy Mecklenburgh – despite having a new girlfriend

HEY, Gethin, you’re looking very fit and trim at the moment…
I have lost some weight, yeah. I do all kinds of training and I feel stronger and fitter than ever. My body fat is ridiculous – it’s 8.8%.
Wow! Are you working harder in the gym to look good for your very beautiful girlfriend, German underwear model Katja Zwara, 29?
She’d probably say I’m the one that pushes her.
I’ve done a bit of personal training so I train her sometimes, but she shouts a lot.
I’m like: “I’m not sure this is good for our relationship if you’re effing and blinding at me!”
She loves tennis so I bought her some lessons for her birthday.
You’ve got a pilot’s licence. Who would you like to have in your plane and where would you go?
I was going to fly Katja to the south of France two weeks ago, but she wanted to take too many bags so the weight and balance was all wrong.
She may have done that deliberately because she’s not a good flyer.
You’ve dated a few celebrities, including Lucy Mecklenburgh – are you still in touch with her?
We still message now and then.
I’ve got nothing but amazing things to say about her.
According to the press I’ve dated a lot of celebrities who I actually haven’t, like Kelly Brook.

You finished third on Strictly in 2007. Which celebrity would you like to see in the next series?
Tom Jones would be a good shout.
I want someone older to go all the way.
Gordon Ramsay would be good, too. He’s the nicest guy in the world.
I did a UNICEF football tournament with him and he remembers your family’s names and takes time to talk with them.
You’re doing a spot of gardening today but we didn’t have you down as being green-fingered!
When I left school I did a bit of gardening for a neighbour and by the end of the summer I was booked up.
I called my business Geth’s Gardens.
I’ve no idea about garden design, though, so I’m amazed by the talent of designers at this sensory garden we’re in today for disabled children’s charity Caudwell Children.
How did you get involved with the charity?
Me and my best friend Sion have nephews with autism.
We’ve actually launched a charity called Nai – which is Welsh for nephew – to raise funds for research and improve support for those affected by autism.
My nephew Alby is amazing. It’s about realising that he’s different, rather than him apologising to others.
We hear you’ve got a big fund-raising challenge coming up. What are you doing?
I’m running around Wales in 30 days. It’s 871 miles, so that’s 29.1 miles a day.
I’ll be with two ex-marines, who have prosthetic legs after being blown up in Afghanistan.
One will navigate and the other will cook.
What are you planning for your 40th next February?
It’s England v Wales in the Six Nations rugby, so it’s sorted!
I’m not big at celebrating birthdays.
I’ll probably travel, take some friends and family away somewhere.
You seem a pretty confident chap. What aren’t you so sure about?
Cooking and red carpets.
At a photo call this morning, people took a picture and then walked off and didn’t say goodbye.
How weird is that? I felt like a piece of meat!
