One McDonald’s meal has a DAY’S worth of fat in it… plus the Starbucks drink with a staggering amount of sugar

IT’S NO big revelation that we need to be watching the amount of fat, sugar and salt we eat.

But it can be easy to stop tracking the amount of each we consume over the course of the day as keeping a tally is tricky.

But these interesting new graphics illustrate just how quickly we can reach our recommended daily intake of fat, sugar and salt by eating everyday products which are available from our highstreets and supermarkets.

Consumers may be surprised by the results of the investigation which showed that it is a lot easier than you’d think to exceed the healthy eating guidelines.

The – which was commissioned by Wren Kitchens – discovered that even snacks which are thought of as “healthy” actually contain more  fat, sugar and salt than people assume.

For example the study revealed that you just need to drink 1.7 Starbucks Chai Lattes in order to hit your recommended daily intake of sugar.

While just one jar of Sharwoods Sweet and Sour Cooking Sauce take you right up to the daily sugar limit.

The fat content of some products may also surprise you.

It takes just 5.5 tablespoons of Tesco’s finest coleslaw to have eaten your entire recommended daily allowance of fat.

And a McDonald’s Big Tasty with bacon meal is also your whole 70g daily fat allowance.

It may also come as a surprise to find out that you will have eaten your entire recommended daily intake of salt after just 2.5 tablespoons of Amoy Soy sauce or after 4.6 rashes of Tesco smoked thick cut bacon.
