JUICY DEAL

Lidl launch a fruity £7.99 Italian liqueur and it’s almost HALF the price of Aperol

Bottles of the 70cl liquor are available in stores now and are priced at £7.99

LIDL is renowned for offering budget versions of top food brands – and now the supermarket is selling a ‘knock-off’ version of the nation’s favourite summer drink.

The German store has unveiled Bitterol, which appears to be a near-identical version of the popular Italian aperitif Aperol.

Bottles of the 70cl liquor are available in stores now and are priced at £7.99.

This is nearly half the price of the branded Aperol, which is on sale in Tesco and Waitrose for £15.

Lidl’s spirits expert Tristian Stephenson told The Sun Online that Bitterol, which contains “a mix of carefully selected herbs and a touch of orange”, is “delicious served over ice with a slice of orange”.

It can also be used to make a dupe of the Instagram-worthy cocktail Aperol Spirtz, which mixes the spirit with Prosecco and soda water.

Excited Lidl shoppers are chuffed with the brand’s budget-friendly alcohol alternative.

Charlotte Meyer wrote: “Hello @LidlUK will we be seeing Bitterol back on the shelves this summer? We love it!!”

Rosalind Holley shared a photo of the drink, and commented: “Lidl has your back spirtz fans.”

While, Russell Lockyer said: “A dangerous discovery at Lidl. #Bitterol spritz for summer it is and lots of it as good as Aperol and stronger.”

But not everyone is impressed.
