This is when most people first say I Love You… and you won’t believe how long some people wait
A survey has revealed the surprising romance habits of young Brits
HOW soon is too soon to first say those three little words to your significant other?
A recent YouGov survey asked just that, and the mixed bag of results confirms that the road to love is never straightforward.
Questioning 3,947 adults, aged between 18 and 24, the survey revealed that 22 per cent of us wait for two to three months before declaring our feelings, making this the most common response.
But shockingly, many young Brits admitted to moving much more quickly.
As many as 16 per cent have uttered those all important words within the first month of a new relationship, while 3 per cent claimed to have said it within just one week.
A quarter of those surveyed were much more romantically guarded.
According to the study, 14 per cent waited up to half a year before announcing their feelings and a further 11 per cent would only say “I love you” after six months – 3 per cent within nine months, 6 per cent within a year, and 2 per cent waiting for a staggering two years.
The results also showed that 10 per cent of 18-24 year olds have never reached this relationship milestone.
This study comes after YouGov revealed earlier this year that 61 per cent of Brits have declared their love to three or fewer people – 26 per cent of these having said the words to just one person.
Whether you’re an impulsive lover or a cautious romantic, the results conclude that there’s no right or wrong way of doing things.
There’s no scientific ‘I love you’ formula, so if you’re struggling to find the right moment, don’t worry – you’re definitely not alone.
