River Island is selling L.A. Gear-inspired light-up trainers for kids… and adults are gutted they can’t get in on the 90s throwback fun

RIVER Island has paid homage to the 90s with these fun light-up shoes for kids - but not everyone's impressed.

Miffed adults are begging the fashion giant to bring the item out in bigger sizes, so they can strut down the street in them feeling nostalgic.

The high-street retailer recently unveiled the kids' kicks on Instagram.

They captioned the clip: "Our #90s dreams come true.

"Treat her to the coolest kicks around with our girls flashing light-up trainers."

The sneaker-style shoes come in two colours: rose gold and black.

They seem to have taken inspiration from L.A. Gear's light-up shoes that dominated the fashion world in the 90s.

But unlike the clunky old trainers, the River Island numbers have been given a modern twist with a more feminine design.

They are made from patent fabric and have a light-up chunky sole and rounded toe.

You'll have to fork out a fair amount for the shoes, as they retail for £40.

Shoppers have been sent into a frenzy over the throw-back trainers - but are gutted that they have only been released for kids.

One Instagram user said: "Good one @riverisland now can you make these in adult sizes?"

Another added: "I want a pair of these! What age can you get away with these?"

Luckily, those with small feet will be able to squeeze themselves into the 90s-style shoes.

The clothing item is available up to a UK Size 4.
