Aldi’s summer fashion range is crammed with bargains… from £7.99 maxi dresses to Birkenstock lookalike sandals which are just £9.99

DISCOUNT supermarket Aldi is taking on upmarket stores such as Zara, John Lewis and even Harvey Nichols by launching a stylish clothing range for summer.

The purse-friendly collection features pretty beach dresses, bejewelled sandals and fashionable men's shirts at just a fraction of the price of most high street retailers.

For example, Aldi's Maxi Dress is priced at just £7.99, compared to a similar looking design at John Lewis for £55.

And the cheap and cheerful retailer even offer a ladies summer hat which at £3.49 undercuts a similar looking hat from posh Harvey Nichols by a staggering £376.51.

Another bargain includes the store’s “comfort sandals” which don't look much different to pricey footwear brand Birkenstock's £75 Arizona Sandals – but cost just £9.99.

Aldi says its new Holiday Wardrobe Collection gives “fashion-conscious customers the chance to pick up this season's key fashion pieces for less”.

Aldi adds: "Shoppers can create the perfect summer capsule wardrobe with Aldi's selection of quality, on-trend essentials starting at just £2.99.

"Launching in stores nationwide and online on June 22, the range includes everything from beach dresses and jewelled sandals to summer shirts and swim shorts for men and women, sure to turn heads from beach to bar.

"For summer holidays spent at home or abroad, Aldi's budget-friendly prices make mastering this season's hottest trends a breeze."

There is also a menswear range including Aldi's Men's Chino Shorts, £6.99, which are a cut price alternative to Zara's £29.99 Tan Bermuda Shorts.
