RED FLAG

Theresa May steps out in her favourite red suit for General Election 2017… but will she be chucking it out after a disastrous night?

She has worn the outfit throughout her time as PM... from meeting Donald Trump to the G20 Leaders Summit

IT'S the curse of the red suit, as Theresa May stepped out in her favourite outfit only to witness a disastrous election night which has many calling for her to resign.

This morning Britain woke to the news that the Conservatives have lost their House of Commons majority, leaving us with a hung parliament following the Prime Minister's bold decision to call a snap election in April.

As the first pictures emerged of May arriving at her Maidenhead count overnight, many questioned her decision to wear Labour's colours for the election.

But the red suit is a faithful outfit which the thrifty Prime Minister has recycled throughout her time in power.

The two-piece suit is from one of her favourite UK designers, Amanda Wakeley.

The PM wore the same outfit to meet Donald Trump back in January, when those infamous images of her "holding hands" with the President emerged, as well as at the G20 Leaders Summit in September 2016.

She also donned a red suit during her time as Home Secretary - most memorably on Budget Day 2016, when there were a few raised eyebrows at the plunging top she chose to wear to the House of Commons.

But this was far from the red suit's first outing.

After listening to a State Opening of Parliament speech by Queen Elizabeth II in 2014, she was seen walking through the Central Lobby with Labour Party MP Chuka Umunna - wearing the same suit.

A year later, she was pictured arriving at the House of Commons chamber, alongside Education Secretary Nicky Morgan, in the same get-up.

But, with the sour taste of a disastrous election night still lingering, will she ever be able to wear the suit again?
