Size 12 woman begs H&M to ‘sort out’ its sizing after she struggles to squeeze in to a size 16… and other shoppers slam the store too

Some customers have claimed that the store's sizing affects their body confidence

A SIZE 12 woman complained to H&M when she was unable to fit into a dress that was three sizes too big for her.

Student Lowri Bryne, from Swansea, urged the high-street retailer to “sort out their sizes” after she struggled to feel comfortable in a size 16.

The 22-year-old asked a shop assistant at the Plymouth branch if she could try on a size 18 as she could “barely breathe” in the “absolutely ridiculous” smaller option.

Lowri took to Facebook to vent her concerns, writing: “The dress I have on in these photos is a size 16, and I could barely breathe.

“Not only was this annoying because I wanted to buy this dress, but so many women take what size dress they buy to heart."

She added: “If I was one of these girls (thankfully I'm not) requesting a size 18 dress would seriously devastate me!

“When I asked if this dress came in an 18 the store assistant said 'ahh yeah you have to go up a couple of sizes with these'.

“A couple?!? Going up 3-4 sizes surely should make you realise that you need to seriously sort out sizing!!!”

Soon, Lowri’s Facebook post was flooded with similar complaints from shoppers who had also found problems with H&M sizing.

Since the high-street customer uploaded the snaps last week, she's been inundated with hundreds of comments and 150 shares.

One social media user said: "I'm 'too fat' for this shop because of the sizing.

"It's ridiculous and a big problem for influential young girls.....it could have awful affects to some girls confidence.”

Another agreed: “If I go in H&M now I need to pick up three and try them on to then be heart broken when I'm wearing a bigger size than necessary!

“No wonder they always have sales they can't get rid of the stuff due to awful sizing!”

A H&M spokesperson told The Sun Online: “H&M hugely values all customer feedback. It is only ever our intention to design and make clothes that make our customers feel good about themselves, any other outcome is neither intended nor desired.

"H&M’s sizes are global and the sizes offered in the UK are the same in all the 66 markets in which we operate in and online.

"As there is no global mandatory sizing standard, sizes will differ between brands and different markets.

"Our dedicated, in-house sizing department works according to an average of the sizes and measurements suggested by the markets we operate in. H&M sizes are continually reviewed by our in-house sizing department.”

Last year, a fuming woman accused H&M of using curved mirrors that make customers look FATTER.

And another shopper slammed the high-street retailer for selling "unrealistically small" clothes.
