Rain ruined your hair? Weatherproof your locks with these five expert tips to tame a frizzy mane
IT'S every girl's nightmare to spend hours glamming up for a night on the town only to have the wet British weather wreak havoc with their perfectly sculpted locks.
If you're constantly battling with unruly hair that expands at the mere sight of moisture, then you could use our expert tips to tame the frizz.
Sam Burnett, owner and creative director of top London hair salon , shared his insider tips to stay fresh even when the wet weather hits.
Don't go crazy with the towel
Sam admitted: "One of the biggest concerns my clients have at this time of year is how unpredictable the weather can be and the toll it takes on their hair."
And the top stylist insists it's important to blot the water out of your hair without damaging your mane.
Sam said: “When shampooing your hair on rainy, muggy days it’s really common for people to over dry their hair with a towel.
"This ruffles the cuticles, causing the hair to become frizzy."

Take care when drying
Taking the time to properly dry your hair really can make all the difference.
Sam said: “It is so important to dry the hair properly, taking it section by section to ensure you dry the hair properly, rather than rough-drying it 80%."
Don't brush your hair when wet
You can damage your hair by trying to run a brush through it while it is still wet.
Sam said: "Avoid brushing wet hair. Brushing wet hair not only disrupts your hair’s cuticles, it can also stretch hair, leading to breakage.
"Instead comb through with seamless comb - Matador is a good go-to."
Get the right brush
Using the right tools is vital if you to achieve the perfect tresses.
Sam said: "Use a Denman brush to smooth your hair as you blow dry your roots and a round natural bristle brush through your ends to help smooth the cuticles flat.
"Always direct air flow down the hair shaft - and never touch your hair with the nozzle."
Care for your hair
Paying a bit of extra attention to your locks can make all the difference. Sam recommends a moisturising treatment to keep a nice shine to your locks.
He said: "The Kerasilk treatment is perfect for combatting this as a smoothing and taming service that helps to reduce frizz, soften and control curls."
He adds that a weekly pre-shampooing treatment is also a good call, saying: "Simply massage the product - hair oils work well too - onto dry hair from the mid-length to the tips and leave on for at least 20 minutes."
