QUADRUPLETS And Homeless viewers have slammed the NHS for giving IVF treatment to a “homeless couple with alcohol problems” - but the couple claim they didn't get any handouts for the treatment.

Anyur, 43, and Tony, 49 – who featured in the Channel 4 show last night – had been trying for children for ten years.

After two rounds of IVF Anyur fell pregnant with quads but, with Tony on disability benefit due to a chronic health condition, and battling alcoholism, the couple had to move in with Anyur’s parents.

And, while the NHS was never mentioned in the show, viewers jumped to their own conclusions.

Brian Taylor wrote: “No wonder the NHS is skint. They paid for 2 rounds of IVF for a homeless couple with alcohol problems?”

Lindsay Fitzpatrick said: “Didn't know you could get IVF on DSS & why have kids with an alcoholic.”

Former Apprentice star Luisa Zissman waded into the argument and also seemed outraged.

She said: “Totally irresponsible of NHS to give a homeless couple on benefits with alcoholic father IVF & then they have quads too #quadrupletsandhomeless.”

The programme showed Anyur and Tony struggling to cope with the four babies, while clashing with Anyur’s strict Turkish parents.

After watching his babies being born, Tony talked about his battle with the booze and vowed to give it up.

He said: "It’s going to change my life. I’ve got a lot of growing up to do."

Asked what he wanted to be when the babies were born, he said: "Sober".

But he revealed he was “taking it one day at a time.”

The couple brought their babies home to the two-bedroom home owned by Anyur's elderly parents - despite the fact that they HATE Tony and even refer to him as "the thing."

Anyur's mother told the show: "He's something to do with my daughter. He's nothing to do with us."

The new parents had dreamed of moving to Ireland and Anyur explained they were struggling to get their own home on benefits.

But clearly not all viewers were in support of the couple's decisions to date.

Chunkychick tweeted: “Great... an alcoholic, argumentative, homeless couple, that's never lived together give birth to quadruplets.”

Some viewers were sympathetic to their plight, however.

One tweeted: “It's heart-breaking...can't help feeling for poor Tony, totally side-lined by her family."

Another added: “I wish them all the best in Ireland. I think they'll be happy and have Nan singing lovely lullabies to babes too.”

When contacted for comment on the reaction to last night's episode, a Channel 4 spokesperson told The Sun Online: "Tony and Aynur found out they were expecting quadruplets after having IVF abroad.

"This film  is an accurate and sensitive portrayal of the challenges facing two devoted parents who are raising four babies in challenging circumstances."

Viewers recently blasted a benefits mum who raked in £10,000 and lived a lavish lifestyle after she appeared on Britain on the Fiddle.
