Drivers will be interested to note that some of today’s very ordinary cars could actually be worth a small fortune, as they become more desirable and gain value over time.

reports that investors have noted a promising trend in car prices, with the most desirable cars rising steeply in value in recent years.

And some everyday wheels could soon be among the most sought-after cars, with owners potentially raking it in if they own one of these models.

Ford
The MK1 Escort has recently seen drastic increase in value

Most notably, MK 1 Ford Escorts have become desirable wheels, with good quality Escorts worth around £20,000.

Five years ago, you could bag yourself one for just £2000, whilst a pristine model sold for £203,000 at auction last month.

Citroen
The Citroen XM is among the models expected to increase in value

Among the other sought-after cars are the Citroen XM, the Subaru Impreza and original Fiat Pandas – none of which were particularly remarkable in their own right.

Karl Fasulo, director of KGF Classic Cars, told the Star: “Originality is crucial.

“Low mileages and few owners will always be more desirable, and sportier variants are the most appealing.

“Early Audi TTs and Ford Pumas, too, will undoubtedly become real classics in a few years’ time.”
