BRITS will eat 18,304 sandwiches, spending £48,339 on them in their lifetime, pollsters claim.
Fifty-six per cent have at least one butty a day — with a third picking the same filling each time.
Heinz’s survey of 2,000 people found BLT was the most popular.
It also discovered the perfect sarnie is made from white bread — crusts-on — then cut diagonally in half.
A spokesperson for Heinz Seriously Good Mayo said: "These findings show Brits are very particular when it comes to their sandwiches – without a doubt it's still our go-to option for lunch.

"The fact that it's so quick to make, cheap and you can pretty much have any filling you fancy makes it an obvious choice for school children, workers, busy mums and anyone on the go.
The report found the Leeds is the sandwich capital of the UK - people from the city tend to consume 20 sandwiches per month.
But it also found a taste for some more unusual fillings — including leftover roast dinner, marmite and banana, and onion rings and ketchup.
