Sherlock and Spock are related… and five other fan theories about your favourite TV shows that will blow your mind
You may never look at these classic TV series the same again
SOME TV fans aren't satisfied with just watching their favourite show, over and over again.
In the age of box sets and Netflix, there are those who like to dig deeper and come up with theories gleaned from tiny clues that many would have missed.
But is Sherlock really related to Spock? Did Friends have a romantic link to Parks and Recreations? And is Bel Air really heaven to the Fresh Prince?
Here are the most popular fan theories doing the rounds.
Sherlock and Spock are related
This is one to get all you sci-fi lovers excited.
The connection comes from a famous Sherlock quote from the Arthur Conan Doyle novels which is: “If you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.”
This was quoted in Star Trek and then repeated in Benedict Cumberbatch's series Sherlock and, bizarrely, attributed to Spock.
But in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, Spock attributes the quote to "an ancestor of mine."
This makes him a direct descendent of Sherlock Holmes himself.

The One where Rachel dated someone from Parks and Recreation
Fans have come up with a theory that Friends and Parks and Recreations share the same universe and it’s backed up by one significant link.
During the Friends episode The One With All The Candy, Monica reveals Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) once dated a guy called Ben Wyatt.
Ben Wyatt is the name of Adam Scott's character on Parks and Recreation.
As both shows are NBC hits it’s possible that this was a deliberate secret link put in by the show’s writers.
The Rugrats aren’t real
This theory – which has been doing the rounds for a while – should definitely be filed under ‘bonkers.’
The story goes that the other babies are all a figment of Angelica’s imagination and she invented them to cope with her parent’s negligence.
In fact all her parents’ friends are childless because Chuckie and his mother died together, Tommy was stillborn and the DeVilles had an abortion, so Angelica invents twins since she doesn't know the gender of the baby.
The Fresh Prince of Bel Air is actually dead
The theory goes that that Will is actually killed in the famous fight in Philadelphia, mentioned in the opening song and Bel Air is actually heaven.
The theory goes that Will is coming to terms with issues he's had with his estranged aunt and uncle who have also died.
However DJ Jazzy Jeff, who appeared in the show, debunked this myth saying: ““It’s just, that’s so far-fetched you just laugh.”
Walter White is actually Malcolm In the Middle as a grown up
Actor Brian Cranston played Malcolm’s dad Hal before becoming meth king Walter in Breaking Bad.
But is he just Malc as a man?
OK, so he’s not called Malcolm but fans have pointed to similarities between the two characters, saying they are both incredibly smart, brilliant at chemistry and great at manipulating others.
The name change is explained by the interval between the two shows when Malcolm grew up, moved away and changed his name. The name he chose was that of his beloved grandad from MITM – who happens to be called Walter.
Why Ash in Pokemon never grew up
The chief catcher in the classic series was chasing the elusive Pokemon for nearly 20 years – but was still only 10.
But the Pokemon fanbase think they have worked out the real reason why Ash never ages.
In the pilot episode, Ash sees the legendary Pokemon Ho-oh – who grants anyone who sees it “eternal happiness," according the the “Pokedex”.
Ash's idea of eternal happiness is to to forever be in pursuit of Pokemon so Ho-oh allows this to happen by keeping him forever young.
